3-K Application

PS 84 now has two 3K classes with 15 students. In New York City, you can apply to 3-K in the calendar year that your child turns three. Click here for more information.

  • Children born in 2021 can attend 3-K in September 2024. Apply by March 1, 2024.

Pre-K Application

PS 84 has three full-time Pre-K classes with 18 children per class. Each class has a teacher and an assistant.

  • Children born in 2020 can attend Pre-K in September 2024. Apply by March 1, 2024.

Pre-K is a federal program hosted in New York City schools. Priority is given to students with a sibling already in the school. Out-of-zone students from District 14 are sorted through a lottery. Click here for information on how to apply.

Registration

If you are offered a seat and would like to accept it, you must pre-register at the school. You will be asked to bring your child with you, along with the following documents:

  • Your child's birth certificate or passport

  • Your child's immunization records

  • Two documents to verify proof of residence.

Grades K-5 / Lower Grades

Application

PS 84 has four full-time Kindergarten programs which consist of two dual-language classes, one ICT English-only class, and one Autism Nest ICT class.

  • Children born in 2019 can attend Kindergarten in September 2024. Apply by January 2024.

Current Pre-K students do not automatically stay at the school for kindergarten.

Grades 6-8 / Upper Grades 

Application

Students who have completed fifth grade can join the upper school. There are currently three classes per grade in upper school at PS 84.

All students, including current PS 84 students attending 5th grade need to submit an application.

Spanish Dual Language Program 

Application

The process to apply for our Dual Language Program is the same as the Kindergarten or Elementary School. Simply choose the Dual Language Program as your preference when submitting the application to the DOE.

If your child is offered placement, you will be contacted by the school for your child to be screened for Spanish language fluency. If your child qualifies for the dual language program, you will receive a letter of acceptance. 


Autism Nest Program

Application

The application process is handled by the Special Education unit of the DOE and requires a referral and evaluation, followed by an application to determine eligibility. Children who are eligible are assigned an Autism Nest Program school, and their families receive a School Location Letter (SLL) with the assigned school location.

Families of accepted students assigned to PS 84 will be contacted by the school to arrange a school visit and to register.

Registration

Upon receipt of the SLL, families of accepted students should bring the documentation needed to enroll their child at the Autism Nest Program school as soon as possible.

Gifted and Talented Program

Application

PS 84 is a 3rd grade entry G&T school. For the 2024-25 school year we will house 3rd, 4th and 5th grade G&T classes. The program is expected to expand into middle school for the 2025-26 school year.

All 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders who are not already in a G&T program and that have 3s and 4s on their report cards (and no 1s) in reading, writing and math are eligible to apply this year.

Families apply through their MySchools account in early May and receive offers by the end of June. The admissions are done by DOE lottery with sibling and district priority. For more information visit the NYC DOE G&T webpage.

Registration

If you are offered a seat:

  • Current PS 84 students:

    • You will need to accept your offer on MySchools. Your child will automatically be moved into the G&T class in the Fall.

  • Students new to PS 84:

    • You will need to accept your offer on MySchools, then call our Pupil Accounting Secretary at 718-384-8063 to make a registration appointment.  Please have the following documents ready:

      • Your child's birth certificate or passport

      • Your child's immunization records

      • Two documents to verify proof of residence
