Scholastic Book Fair
November 17-21, 2025
PS 84 will be holding its first Scholastic Book Fair of the year! This is a terrific opportunity for your child to add a book of their choosing to your home library and continue to grow their love of reading!
Get your child prepared by visiting our Book Fair homepage where you can also create a Book Fair eWallet. While cash and credit/debit can be used at the Book Fair, having an eWallet set up means neither you nor your child needs to worry about carrying or losing cash - it makes for an easy shopping experience for all!

November’s Book of the Month
After a wonderful party, birthday girl Grace sits down to thank her friends and family for all their kind gifts. But she doesn't stop there! As she writes, Grace realizes there are so many things to be grateful for. So she thanks her teacher for helping her learn to write. She thanks her dog for his cheerful wagging tail. She even thanks the sky for being perfectly, beautifully blue.
When Grace returns home after delivering her notes, she finds a wealth of affection--cards, letters, and notes from her neighbors and friends. A beautifully illustrated gatefold page shows how deeply her letters have touched the hearts of everyone around them.
The Thank You Letter is perfect for starting conversations about gratitude, both for tangible gifts and for the little things we don't always stop to appreciate. The sweet story encourages young readers to focus on positivity and share it.
PS 84 in the News!
PS 84 is delighted to be featured in The Britto Doc, a film examining the life of iconic Brazilian contemporary pop artist, Romero Britto, founder of The Happiness Movement! The film showcases PS 84’s own art teacher, Ms. Rios, and her brilliant, creative first grade students. The next time you’re visiting PS 84, take a look at stunning original painting Romero Britto gifted our school in the trophy case in the main lobby!
PS 84 was recently featured on PBS’ program Table for All with Buki Elegbede. Buki visited our school to participate in a workshop centered around cultural awareness and pride wherein students created superheroes with local artist and PS 84 parent, Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez, creator of La Borinquena.

4th Grade Service Project
4th Graders were invited to a Celebration of Service Event hosted by NYC Service to share their community advocacy project on supporting local animal shelters’ Adopt-Don’t-Shop and Trap-Neuter-Release initiatives. PS 84 students were joined by peers from around the city who covered topics like food insecurity, and the rights of kids with disabilities, among other things.
5th Grade Field Trip
Every year, the 5th grade participates in the Seeds to Trees Residency by the City Parks Foundation. These photos are from our Field Experience at Marine Park salt marsh. Students were seining on the beach, catching, and identifying species. Those waiting for their turn to wade in the water were participating in a Beach clean up where they used grabbers to collect trash for beach stewardship.
Greenhouse CLASSROOM
Basil grown by our students in the Greenhouse.
In our gorgeous state of the art greenhouse, students learn the ins and outs of hydroponic farming. It all comes full circle on harvest day when the students are able to taste the fruits of their labor by making pesto and other delectable treats.

8th Grade Photography
Our 8th graders studied portraiture, lighting, & composition in Mr. Guzman’s Graphic Arts class. They learned how to use professional photography gear & Adobe Creative Cloud. Students modeled for, shot and edited these dramatic photos using digital cameras & software provided by our PTA. Shown above is some of the best work from this unit.
PS84 School Photos are shot by our Middle School Graphic Art and Media Class!
