Free Programs
Y Afterschool (Grades K-5)
Y Afterschool students will participate in interactive learning models that engage critical thinking skills, get assistance with their homework from trained YMCA staff and have a chance to socialize with each other. The staff-to-student ratio is 1:10.
At the end of the school day, your child’s teacher will bring your child to the auditorium to be picked up by the afterschool counselors. Afterschool hours are from 2:40 pm-5:30 pm, with dismissal beginning at 5:30 pm. Parent pick up will be at the cafeteria exit.

Grand St Settlement (Grades 6-8)
Grand St. Settlement offers free after-school programming to students in grades 6-8 and operates as part of the Comprehensive After School System (COMPASS), a nationally acclaimed network for school-aged youth.
From homework help and mentoring, to dance and recreation, the offerings vary from year to year, and are always tailored to student interests.
Low-Cost Programs
We are excited to share that PS 84 will soon welcome a new partner to provide a fee based after-school program for students in 3k-5. We recognize that this announcement may feel last-minute, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to expand high-quality options for our families.
This new program is being developed in direct response to the valuable feedback we’ve received from our community and reflects our continued commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our students.
The after-school program will offer a flexible and affordable experience, including both 3-day and 5-day participation options, as well as monthly rolling enrollment to better accommodate varying family schedules.
While details are still being finalized, we look forward to sharing more information in the coming weeks and will do our best to keep families informed with as much advance notice as possible.
