The "Homegrown Visionary"

Principal Sereida Rodriguez-Guerra didn’t just take the helm of PS 14K084 in 2010—she returned home. Raised in the heart of the Williamsburg community, her leadership is fueled by a deep, personal commitment to the neighborhood that shaped her.

A specialist in bilingual and multilingual education, Sereida’s career has been defined by a passion for the "literacy." From her early days as a cutting-edge classroom teacher in the Bronx to her pivotal years as a Reading Specialist and Assistant Principal at Brooklyn’s PS 250, she has remained a fierce advocate for literacy and language. Today, she brings that expertise to PS 84, ensuring that every student—from our Spanish Dual Language learners to our Nest explorers—receives a world-class, rigorous education in the community she calls home.

“When the opportunity at PS 84 arose, I wasn’t seeking a title—I was seeking a way to serve. What drew me here were the limitless possibilities within a school that had navigated so much challenge. This is my community, and I knew it was my turn to step up and build the future our children deserve.”
— Principal Sereida Rodriguez-Guerra

As a public school parent whose own two children attended PS 84, Principal Rodriguez-Guerra brings a unique, dual perspective to her leadership. With over two decades of expertise, she has worked in lockstep with her faculty and the PTA to redefine the school’s trajectory. A firm believer in bridging traditional rigor with progressive inquiry, Sereida fosters a culture of deep collaboration. Under her guidance, PS 84 is flourishing—boasting a robust curriculum, dynamic community partnerships, and a state-of-the-art Greenhouse Classroom that provides every student with a rich, multi-sensory learning experience."
